教宗方濟各逝世 終年88歲
綜合外媒報道，梵蒂岡透過視像聲明發佈噩耗，教宗方濟各（Pope Francis）今日（21日）在其寓所「聖瑪爾大之家」安詳離世，終年88歲。88歲的教宗方濟各自2013年3月出任教宗，至今12年；今年2至3月期間曾因感染肺炎而入院治療達5周，其健康狀況引起公眾關注。

方濟各昨日曾露面送上祝福
教宗方濟各曾於昨日（20日）復活節彌撒後，在聖彼得廣場（St. Peter’s Square）公開露面，向民眾揮手及送上祝福，並由其助手讀出復活節文告，當中呼籲以加兩國早日停火；同日教宗方濟各亦與美國副總統萬斯（JD Vance）作簡短會面。

長眠聖地選址曝光
早於2023年，教宗方濟各就曾透露已在羅馬「聖母大殿」（Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore）選擇好長眠之地。「聖母大殿」是四大宗座聖殿之一，從1216年的何諾三世（Pope Honorius III）到1669年的克勉九世，已有7位教宗安葬於此。教宗方濟各就曾表示，他對聖母大殿有特殊感情，當上教宗前就經常在周日來羅馬造訪聖母大殿，就算獲選教宗後，也會在每次外訪前後到聖母大殿禱告。
